This is on the wall of the only local self car wash.
I live in an apartment with no exterior faucets. Where else am I gonna do the hand washing of my car?
I’m not subjecting this silver beauty to the car washes around here either - with those dirt dragging dryer strips - shudder...
What do all of you apartment Oppos do?

I drive a beater, so I just don’t wash it. I’d suggest trying to find a friend, coworker, etc who will let you borrow their hose and driveway for an hour.

What’s wrong with hand washing?

My opinion is, if you’re going to hand wash, you do it on non-peak hours. some people want to get in and out quick and don’t have the time to wait while you take 35 minutes to wash your car. be respectful of other people’s time, the owner is losing money, if you are taking up a stall, and you aren’t feeding the machine quarters.

I drive a rally car washing it would be pointless

I just wash my hands in the sink like a normal person.

And that’s what I try to do. Today, when I took these pics, there was only one other stall occupied, leaving 4 open.

I have hard water at home and the outdoor spigot is on the opposite side of the house from the driveway, so I generally just go to the self-serve bays and use their brushes.
The car wash near me isn’t that bad, the brushes are softer than I’ve seen at other places and seem to be pretty gentle on the paint. If they were really course, then I’d find another option.

If you’re really up on waxing and sealing it, the automatic washes aren’t bad.

You take up a stall that somebody could be paying to use. Like going to a restaurant with only a few tables and ordering just coffee.

Damn! I was looking for a good Hand Wash too!
I used to go to the coin wash during off hours and bucket wash. Never had an issue.

I don’t live in an apartment thankfully but if I did I’d invest in a Mobi Washer (portable pressure washer) or an eco-pressure washer with a water draw and 25 or 50 water carrier to feed.

If I was you I would first rinse the car/ wheeles. Then pull it out into a free space infont and then hand wash it. Once your done pull it back in and do a final rinse.

Yeah, I don’t really see any issue as long as you’re not making people wait. Or if the owner comes by and tells you to gfto.

That sounds like a good plan. Next time it’s busy there, I’ll try this.

Ye’, the likes of the Mobi Washer and similar are great for when you want to have water pressure for cleaning away from home.
Use the washer for initial rinse down, then two bucket method for washing and then the washer for final rinse.
A compact pressure washer usually has a low draw and can be hooked up to a water butt or water carrier when electricity is easy to access yet a water supply isn’t.
